Great Makeup Finds for Under $15 for the City Socialite on a Budget!
You know I am all about makeup. Makeup! Makeup! It is nice to go into your local drug store or mall and find some really great items for less. On my quest to look like a total drag queen I find myself trying to find totally cheap options for a girl on a budget. Sure Mac, Urban Decay, Smashbox, Tarte, and Makeup Forever are great brands that I LOVE. If you dive in my packed make up box you can find some of those great brands but you can also find a lot of GREAT inexpensive products. I believe in mixing and matching, certain products like foundation you should splurge on but there are items like lashes that you can save tremendiously on. After going to the Mac counter and spending a grip on 3 items I decided to challenge myself to see if I could find some GREEEEAAAATTTT *Tony Tiger Voice* items for a very LOW prices. Here is what I came up with!
Eye Lash Curler: 4.99
If you have eye lashes you need an eye lash curler. Usualy these products are pretty expensive but for 4.99 you can get a blinged out curler from Forever 21!
4 China Glaze ‘Hunger Games’ Nail Polish – 13.95 – 3.50 = $10.45!
An on the go City Socialite does not always have the time to get her nails done ever week at 30.00 bucks a pop especially when she is on a tight budget. To save money you can go to Ulta and pick up 4 new colors from China Glaze for $10.45. That’s $2.61 bucks per nail polish! We all know that most nail salons use this product, so with a little practice you can save 30.00 a week and skip the nail salon. Dont forget to print out the coupon before you go to the store!
If you want to take your “at home nail shop” experience to the next level try some Mynx like nail designs. Now, I tried these when they first came to Sephora. It takes patience and dedication all of which I do not have. Although it took forever the design looked fabulous. Let me warn you, If you do not take your time when applying the stickers to your nails you will look like a hot mess. The stickers will slide off and you will be stuck with unflattering nails with sticky adhesive attached to them.
3. Liquid Liner .99 – $10.00
Liquid Liner is the best and to be 100% honest with you I dont believe in spending over 15.00 on liquid liner. After you apply your shadows and lashes it just does not make anysense to spend an arm and a leg on liner. I have a couple of cheap options in my makeup bag that cost less than 6.00 bucks that I LOVE over the 18.00+ department store name brands.
Here is a list of Liners that are cheap and GREAT to use.
L’Oreal-HiP Color Truth Cream Eyeliner is on sale at Ulta for $5.49 (Make sure you print the coupon mentioned above!) This product comes in Black, Brown, Teal, Midnight Blue, and Eggplant. The one thing I love about this product is with a great angle brush it glides on with ease. It’s very thick but not cakey or crumby so when you apply the product you need very little makeup on the brush. When it dries it’s just as smooth as a liquid liner. The only thing that I do not like about this product is if you do not tighten that top it turns into a rock.
NYX Collection Noir Liquid Black Liner for $5.99 at Ulta and Revlon ColorStay Liner Liquid Eye Makeup, Blackest Black 251
These liquid liners are cheap and they get the job done! Some inexpensive liquid liners peel off after application but both liners hold firm! You are sure to wow the crowd with both options!
Now this is where everything gets tricky because I am a sucker for great shadows. I am willing to pay a reasonable price for a great pigmented product that will stay on all night. Since my budget does not allow me to “ball out” anymore at the counter I found some great shadows that I use and abuse.
Urban Decay 13.00
Yes, I have tried this palette and it works if you have great make up skills. If you are a makeup beginner than I recommend you buy an E.L.F palette.
I was cruising through Target and found this product in the Beauty section on SALE!!! Yes! The pigments are not as great as your department store find but it gets the job done. The palette is very light and you can pack it in your purse and travel with it just in case you need to freshen up. The colors are a mixture of neutrals or you can try a different eye book with more vibrant colors. If you love neutral shades this is the perfect palette for you at a very inexpensive cost. It comes with a sample size if primer for you to try out.
False Lashes My favorite part of makeup hands down is applying false lashes. Now before you assume that I mean those crazy thick lashes I see girls walking around with you are sadly mistaking. I am not into the clown look, makeup should accentuate your natural beauty not make you look like a kid in Costume!
What I like to do with my lashes is use them in the corners of my eyes only but that’s because I have long lashes. I like to add emphasis at the ends to make them look more slanted and refined. Like this Penelope Cruz Ad!
Ok so what I do is I find some cheap false eyelashes in the design I like. If you get one pack that’s great because it equals 4 Corner Lashes depending on the type of Lash you purchase. Be careful not to purchase the lashes that are already elongated at the ends. Here are some options I use all the time!
These lashes are great to split in the middle and apply to the ends. You can get more for your money that way!
Napoleon Perdis Lash Patrol Strip #747 S $9.00 – Ulta
Great for wearing the entire lash or splitting them in half.
LA Splash Lash Tease Eyelashes-City Walk $4.99 – Ulta
NYX Fabulous Eye Lashes – Lash Implant 111 $4.49 – Ulta
What’s eyelashes without a great CHEAP Mascara to cover them up.
Revlon PhotoReady 3D Volume Mascara, Blackest Blac… $8.99
Maybelline Lash Stiletto Ultimate Length Waterproof $8.49
NYC Show Time Volumizing Mascara, Extreme Black $3.60
I hope you enjoy all your new cheap finds! Post your thoughts if you decide to make a purchase!
